About The Purdue Club of Pittsburgh
Recent History
The PCOP was established in late 2000 as an effort to rejuvenate a mostly dormant alumni club in the Western Pennsylvania region. The initial beginnings of this project were similar to many infant organizations in that most of the critical groundwork was assumed by a small, but dedicated and energetic, group of individuals who possessed a common interest in Purdue University and who wanted to share their time and skills with others in the Pittsburgh region who valued their associations with Purdue as well.
Activities and Achievements
Part of the success of the PCOP has been due to the creation of the PCOP website and it's linking to the PAA network of other Purdue Clubs and Big Ten sites on the Internet. This avenue of web communication has served to direct both newer and older alumni to the club, allow local members the ability to freely exchange ideas and information with other Purdue alumni, and to stimulate interactive participation within our local club.
PCOP is a multi-faceted organization offering activities of diverse cultural interests. Theater shows, parades, horse races, a family bowling day, major league sporting events, an Oktoberfest dinner/dance, and sporting events have been well attended by local members as group-oriented social functions with the dual purpose of entertaining various interests while still raising money for the club.
We strive to deliver worthwhile experiences that bring out the pride felt by each member of the PCOP and the extended Purdue Alumni Association community.
